ROCKFORD, Mich. — Funeral and visitation arrangements have been scheduled for Rockford City Manager Michael Young, who died Wednesday after suffering a stroke.
Young’s visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Pederson Funeral Home, 127 N. Monroe St., according to a release. His funeral will be Feb. 1 at Our Lady of Consolation Church, 4865 11 Mile Rd. NE.
Prior to the funeral, there will be a police-escorted procession through downtown Rockford beginning at 10:30 a.m.
Young, 48, suffered a stroke on Monday and died Wednesday. He served as Rockford’s city manager for more than 20 years, beginning in 1995.
According to a release, the Michael F. Young ’90, ’94 Scholarship Fundhas been set up in his honorat Grand Valley State University.
Rockford’s City Council will meet Feb. 8 to determine an interim city manager.
