HUDSONVILLE, Mich. -- One person is dead and another critically injured after a crash near Hudsonville.
The crash happened about 8:00 a.m. on 36th Avenue north of Port Sheldon Street. Four people were in the two cars involved in the crash.
The Ottawa County Sheriff's Office reports that Rebecca Kunst, 50, was driving a Toyota Corolla south on 36th Avenue, when she lost control on the slippery roadway and her vehicle slid into the path of a northbound Jeep Grand Cherokee. The driver of the Jeep told deputies that she could not avoid the crash.
Kunst was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene. Her passenger, Jason Lou, 19, an exchange student from China, was taken to Spectrum Health with critical injuries.
The driver and passenger of the Jeep Cherokee were not injured. They were both from Hudsonville.
Deputies report that the roadway was lightly dusted with snow at the time of the crash.
