WHITE PIGEON, Mich. – State police are investigating a possible hit-and-run after a woman admits to drinking and falling asleep behind the wheel.
According to Troopers, around 7:15 a.m. they received a call from a driver following a vehicle on US 12 in the village of White Pigeon. The caller noticed the eastbound vehicle had two flat tires and was going into both lanes of the road.
Troopers stopped the vehicle near Lutz Road.
They noticed that three tires were flat and there was damage on the front end of the passenger’s side of the vehicle. A passenger side mirror was also missing.
The 31-year-old driver told State Police she had been drinking and possibly fell asleep when her vehicle hit something a mile west of where she was stopped. Troopers searched that area but did not discover where the suspect had damaged any property.
The woman was taken into custody for an OWI and failure to report an accident.
It’s still under investigation.
