CHARLOTTE, NC — For 40 minutes, Jake Paterson looked like a veteran of the American Hockey League.

The final 20 minutes were a reminder that this was still his first game at a new level.

After stopping 29 of the first 30 shots he faced in the first two periods of his AHL debut, the 21-year-old allowed three goals on 12 shots in the third period, allowing the Charlotte Checkers to erase a 3-0 deficit and grab a 4-3 comeback win over the Grand Rapids Griffins.

The Griffins led 3-0 in the second period and 3-1 entering the third.

Martin Frk, Anthony Mantha, and Louis-Marc  Aubry all scored for a second straight night for Grand Rapids, who lost for just the fourth time in 24 games.
