NUNICA, Mich. - M-104 between 136th Avenue and 144th Avenue shut down for a few hours after a three-vehicle crash.
The Ottawa County Sheriff's Office said Russell Kent, 67, of Spring Lake was heading west on M-104 lost control and slid into the eastbound lane. His vehicle was hit broadside by an eastbound vehicle. Kent was pronounced dead at the scene.
"The roads are extremely slippery and icy. We've investigated numerous crashes today. For the most part, most of the crashes involved a driver that was driving too fast for the road conditions," Sergeant Steve Austin said.
Investigators said the driver of the eastbound vehicle, 39-year-old Jennifer Kaiser of Nunica, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. A third vehicle was also damaged. That driver, 63-year-old Larry Vanderplaats of Montague, also had minor injuries. He was treated and released at the scene.
