3 arrested after crashing stolen vehicle: Police

NILES TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Three Indiana men have been arrested after allegedly fleeing the scene of a crash involving a stolen vehicle Tuesday morning.

According to the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department, the crash was reported at about 4:16 a.m. in the 2100 block of S. Third Street in Niles Township.

The vehicle, an Oldsmobile that was recently reported stolen in Indiana, slid off the road and hit a utility pole.

The three men in the vehicle fled on foot after the crash, but police tracked their footprints in the snow and arrested them in the 2100 block of S. 11th Street, according to a release.

Jesse James Roberson, 18, is charged with receiving and concealing stolen property between $1,000 and $20,000, possession of marijuana and operating a vehicle without a valid license in connection with the incident.

The two other suspects, 18-year-old Shane Duane Jacobs and 18-year-old Isaiah Ray Moutria, are both charged with receiving and concealing stolen property between $1,000 and $20,000.

The three men could also face additional theft charges in Elkhart, Ind., according to a release from the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department.
