LANSING, Mich. – The Powerball jackpot continues to grow, but there are a couple of new West Michigan residents who are millionaires this morning.
Imari Shelton, 19, of Holland won $1 million in the Powerball lottery by matching five numbers correctly, but missing the Powerball, which would have netted her $950 million. Shelton told lottery officials that she played only because the jackpot had climbed so high and that she “had to ask (her) mom for help.” With her mother’s help, she bought five Powerball Easy Picks. She bought the tickets at the Speedway gas station at 800 Washington Avenue in Holland.
Those winning numbers were 16-19-32-34-57. The Powerball was 13. Two other Michigan residents won $1 million in the drawing. They were purchased in Dexter and Rochester Hills.
The Michigan Lottery also says that one ticket in Michigan matched the Lotto 47 numbers drawn over the weekend to win $4.1 million. That ticket was purchased at Bonser’s of Custer, which is about 10 miles east of Ludington. The Lotto 47 winning numbers were 09-33-38-40-43-45.
The next Powerball drawing is Wednesday night. The jackpot now stands at $1.4 billion.
