GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for much of the viewing area until 7 p.m. Sunday evening. Counties not in this warning are in a Winter Weather Advisory.
Much colder air air will arrive for West Michigan on Sunday with temperatures falling into the 20s during the afternoon. Winds will increase from the north-northwest at 20-30 mph with blowing and drifting snow.
Expected snowfall amount have decreased a bit because of the slower change from rain to snow. Most of West Michigan will see about 2-4 inches of snow through Sunday afternoon. Areas to the north may see as much as 4-6 inches. Amounts along and south of I-94 will be in the 1-2 inch range.
If you have plans to travel Sunday morning, expect poor road conditions and reduced visibility. Although the snow will tend to decrease in intensity and coverage late Sunday, blowing and drifting snow along with wind chills dropping into the single digits will still make travel difficult. In fact, it’s recommended that you do not travel if you don’t have to.
