ALEMA TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Van Buren deputies are reporting that they have a man in custody after drunkenly driving his car into a ditch.

It happened Friday afternoon in the 27000 block of M-43 Highway near 34th Avenue. Deputies say that when they arrived on the scene, they found that the 27-year-old driver – a man from Kalamazoo – had already climbed out of the SUV that had rolled into a water drainage ditch.

It was determined at the scene that the driver was intoxicated. He was taken to Van Buren County Jail and blew a .19.

The driver – whose name is being withheld pending arraignment – already had a “restricted” driver’s license. He is being lodged at the Van Buren County Jail on various charges.
