New youth hockey program coming to Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Kids in Grand Rapids now have another way to play the game of floor hockey.

The Grand Rapids Griffins and Flagstar Bank are teaming up to offer year-round floor hockey to local kids. The Boys and Girls Club and the Griffins Youth Foundation are the beneficiaries of the program. Both organizations aim to promote academic excellence and healthy lifestyles for youth in the community. Backers of this program say it’s a great way to introduce more kids to the sport and to promote exercise and healthy lifestyles.

Griffins goalie Tom McCollum and forward Mitch Callahan were at the Grand Rapids Boys and Girls Club Thursday to help kick-off the program, along with the senior vice president of Flagstar Bank. For more information on the program, you can go to this website:
