CRYSTAL, Mich. – A Montcalm County man spent New Year’s Eve and the weekend in jail for a break-in and damaging property.

Branden Miller, 26, of Crystal, was arrested about 9:30pm on Thursday night.

Montcalm deputies say that a 67-year-old Crystal woman called dispatch that a family member, Miller, had broken into her home.  Miller was allegedly intoxicated and was trying to get her car keys.  Miller also allegedly pushed the woman away, causing her to fall and suffer a minor injury.  Miller also allegedly took a bottle of alcohol from the home before he left.

Investigators say that Miller then went to a nearby home where he was apprehended. He is being charged with First Degree Home Invasion and Malicious Destruction of Property, less than $200.  He is still being held on $5,500 bond.
