Springfield man arrested on attempted murder charge after stabbing: Sheriff’s Department

SPRINGFIELD, Mich. — A 19-year-old Springfield man is behind bars on an attempted murder charge after allegedly stabbing another 19-year-old man Monday morning during an argument.

The two men were in a vehicle at the time of the incident, according to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department.   They started arguing, and the suspect allegedly hit the victim with a bottle and started stabbing him.  The victim got out of the vehicle in the area of Dickman Road near Avenue A, according to police.

Officers were called to Barberry Drive at about 2:40 a.m. and found the victim with stab wounds to his face and chest, according to a release.  The suspect was later located in the 700 block of Avenue A, police said.

The suspect’s name will be released when he is formally arraigned.   The victim’s condition was not released.
