Suspect sought in possible ‘dognapping’

MORTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Deputies in Mecosta County are on the lookout after a family reported that their two dogs had been stolen.

Deputies say they took a report this past Wednesday from a family that lives in Morton Township, near the Village of Mecosta detailing the alleged theft.

The dogs, named Max and Ruby, are both German Shepards. Both are only one-year-old and weigh about 75-90 pounds.

The boy, Max, has short ears with ears that fold down and was wearing a black nylon collar with up-to-date tags. The family says he looks more like a lab, even though he is indeed a German Shepard.

The girl, Ruby, has a long snout and long hair. She was wearing a red nylon collar, also with up-to-date tags.

The Sheriff’s Department describes a possible suspect vehicle in the incident as a gray 1 1/2-sized cab Chevrolet pickup, with rust on the rear of it.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office at (231) 592-0150.
