BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – A 29-year-old Battle Creek man was arrested overnight for driving a front-end loader while under the influence of drugs.

Police say they were called to the area of Morgan and Temple at about 1:45am Wednesday on reports of a possible vehicle fire.  When they got there, they were told that at least one person had fled from the damaged vehicle.

The vehicle was registered to a resident on Carpenter Drive and while police were speaking with that person, the suspect drove into the front yard on a front-end loader that he had allegedly taken from the area of Morgan and Washington.

The man was arrested for unlawful driving of the front-end loader, driving under the influence of drugs and malicious destruction of property.  His name will be released after his arraignment.
