MUSKEGON, Mich. — A 14-year-old will face charges after driving and crashing a car that killed his 10-year-old passenger.
Jeffrey Jennings was killed while riding in the SUV on December 3rd in Ravenna. Muskegon County Prosecutor DJ Hilson confirmed to FOX 17 the 14-year-old will be charged with three counts in juvenile court.
The Muskegon County Sheriff’s office said the teen lost control of the SUV on Ensley Road and hit a tree.
Jennings’ mother told FOX 17 earlier this month the SUV was taken without permission. The boy’s family had said they were hoping the 14-year-old would be charged.
“We know there has to be a consequence legally, we know that,” she told FOX 17. “We know there has to be a lesson learned for this boy, if there’s not it’s not going to be good for him either.”
