DES MOINES, Iowa — Todd Nelson’s Grand Rapids Griffins found just two wins in their first 11 games under the first-year head coach.
They have yet to find a loss in the 11 games since.
Xavier Ouellet capped a thrilling comeback with the game-winning goal in overtime to give the Griffins a 4-3 victory against the Iowa Wild in Des Moines on Sunday, the 11th consecutive win for Grand Rapids — tying the franchise mark set in 2005-2006.
Mark Zengerle’s third goal of the season with 39.6 seconds left in regulation forced overtime, setting up Ouellet’s winner.
Martin Frk and Mitch Callahan also scored to help the Griffins erase a 3-0 second period deficit.
Grand Rapids will look to set a new franchise record for consecutive wins on Wednesday when they play at Lake Erie at 7:30 p.m.
