More credit card skimming devices found on Ottawa County gas pumps

Posted

HOLLAND, Mich. — Three devices designed to skim credit card information have been discovered at three gas stations in western Ottawa County. The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office is working with the Grand Rapids Area Electronic Crimes Work Group in the investigation.

Some skimmers were only uncovered after customers noticed strange charges on their credit cards, while others have been discovered by gas station managers.

“These cases seem to be similar to others that were recently reported in the last few days in West Michigan,” said the OCSO in a release.

Skimming devices were uncovered and confiscated at three locations:

  • Stanton Corners, 9170 US-31, Port Sheldon Township
  • Exxon Mobil, 6363 136th Avenue, Holland Township
  • Quality Car Wash Gas & Convenience Store, 234 N. River Drive, Holland Township

Experts recommend only using credit cards at gas pumps and not debit cards.
