IONIA, Mich. – An Ionia County man was sentenced to probation Monday after a highly-publicized incident caught on camera at Ionia County gas station.

John Calley was charged with Retail Fraud, 3rd degree, Failure to Stop for a Personal Injury Accident, and Reckless Driving. He was sentenced to one day in jail for each of the counts, but was given credit for time served. He was also sentenced to 18 months of probation for each charge and fines totaling $1,775.  Calley pleaded “no contest” to the charges.

Calley is the brother of current Michigan Lt. Governor Brian Calley.

In January, surveillance video appeared to show John Calley driving away from the gas station while a female friend tried to get back into his vehicle, dragging her.
