COVERT TWP., Mich. – Two people have been arrested for luring a 14-year-old girl from Van Buren County to Texas over a month ago.
The Covert Township Police, along with Michigan State Police and the FBI made the announcement Friday.
Police said the girl was contacted through phone calls and Facebook in early November. On November 4th, the girl was lured to a Covert Township gas station and one of the suspect then drove her to Houston, Texas. Investigators learned on December 1st where the girl was and Houston police and the FBI found her late on December 2nd. They arrested a 25-year-old man at the scene.
A second suspect, a 21-year-old man, was arrested on December 3rd in New Orleans, Louisiana. He has been identified by the FBI as Jacob Chox.
Both suspects are awaiting extradition back to Van Buren County. Charges and identities will be released on their return.
