BIG RAPIDS, Mich. -- Bart Williams threw for 335 yards and four touchdowns -- including the decisive score to Matt Williams in the fourth quarter -- as 12th-ranked Grand Valley State exorcised some regular season demons by upsetting second-ranked and undefeated Ferris State 38-34 in the second round of the NCAA Division II playoffs.
Jason Vander Laan -- who is in the running for a second Harlon Hill Trophy -- accounted for 407 total yards and five touchdowns for Ferris State, who defeated GVSU 61-24 in Allendale on September 19.
Grand Valley State will play at Colorado State Pueblo on December 5 in the NCAA Division II quarterfinals.
