KENTWOOD, Mich — The Kent County Sheriff’s Department is seeking tips after a man was seriously injured in a shooting at an apartment overnight Saturday.

It was just after 3:00 a.m. when deputies started receiving calls about a loud party happening at 1140 Woodfield East Drive in Kentwood .  Shortly after, additional calls were received about shots being fired at apartment #10.

Deputies say a 25-year-old man from Sparta had been shot at the apartment and showed up at Metro Hospital, driven there by a private vehicle.  The shooting victim underwent surgery and is currently listed in stable condition.

After deputies got to the apartment, there were several occupants inside that refused to exit, leading to a response from the Kent County TAC Team.  A search warrant was obtained and the TAC Team made entry and secured the residence.

Deputies say the investigation into the shooting is ongoing, and right now a suspect is not in custody.

Deputies say several witnesses left the scene prior to law enforcement arriving on scene, urging anyone with information on this shooting to contact the Kent County Sheriff Department at 616-632-6357 or Silent Observer at 616-774-2345.
