Vander Laan nabs GLIAC POTY honors, Ferris St. preps for playoffs

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. -- For a second straight season, Jason Vander Laan is the best in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Ferris State's senior quarterback nabbed another GLIAC Player of the Year honor on Tuesday, following up his Harlon Hill campaign in 2014 with another award-worthy season in 2015. Vander Laan accumulated 3,558 total yards of offense and scored 41 total touchdowns while leading the Bulldogs to a 10-0 regular season and a GLIAC championship.

To their surprise, Ferris State was not picked as a top seed in the NCAA Division II playoffs, so their postseason will begin on Saturday at Top Taggart Field in Big Rapids as the two-seed Bulldogs host seven-seed Texas A&M-Commerce on Saturday at noon.
