(CNN) — A charter bus crashed in Arkansas early Friday, killing six people and sending many others to the hospital with injuries, authorities said.
The accident occurred along Interstate 40 in North Little Rock.
“Multiple individuals who sustained injuries have also been transported from the scene by ambulance,” the Arkansas State Police said in a statement.
The charter bus was traveling westbound when it left the roadway and struck an overpass abutment, authorities said.
Television stations in Arkansas are reporting that the bus was traveling from Michigan.
