Update: Victim changes story on Ottawa County assault

OLIVE TOWNSHIP, Mich. – The woman who reported being assaulted in an Ottawa County park Monday evening has changed her story.

The woman said she had been sitting on a bench on one of the trails in Hemlock Crossings Park. She said a a man held a knife to her neck and told her to be quiet. She said she fought him off and ran.

Thursday afternoon, the Ottawa County Sheriff’s department reported that as the investigation progressed, the woman told detectives that the assault didn’t happen.

The Ottawa County Prosecutor is reviewing the case for possible charges.
