Woman reportedly assaulted along Ottawa County trail

OTTAWA COUNTY, Mich. — Police are on the lookout for a  suspect after a woman reported she was assaulted Monday evening.

It happened just before 6:30 p.m. at Hemlock Crossings Park at 8115 West Olive Road in Ottawa County.

The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office said a woman reported she was assaulted on one of the trails in the park. She said she was near the river about 1/4 mile into the trails taking a walk into the woods prior to the attack. The victim claims she was sitting on a bench when a male with dark brown hair, wearing a gray hoodie grabbed her from behind.

The suspect reportedly held a knife to her neck and told her to be quiet. The victim was able to fight him off before he took off through the trails towards the parking lot.
