KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- On Monday, the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety released dash cam video from a high speed chase and subsequent crash from October 6th. Police said Daniel DeWayne White, 26, led them on the pursuit after he fired off several gunshots near East Michigan and King Highway, as well as Riverview. Police said two vehicles were seen speeding away.

"Our officer witnessed it, called it in and that's how it got reported," Chief Jeff Hadley said.

Hadley said the officer tried to stop White. But the suspect apparently crashed into the officer's vehicle and sped off. Several marked cruisers joined the chase and eventually brought White and an unidentified female passenger to a crashing halt. However, when officer's searched the car and the occupants they didn't find a weapon.

"So we figure that the handgun was thrown out of the vehicle during the chase at some point along the route," Hadley said.

White was arrested and charged with fleeing and eluding, marijuana possession (repeat offense) and several weapons charges. Jail records show he was released on Friday. He'll be in circuit court on November 9th for his pre-trial hearing.

Police aren't saying who the female passenger was, but she wasn't arrested.
