GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Construction of a new piece of Grand Rapids' skyline hit a milestone Tuesday morning.
Crews working on the 11-story mixed use building Arena Place, next to Van Andel Arena, celebrated putting in place the final beam at a "Topping Off" ceremony. The ceremony is used to symbolize the transition from working on the outside and structure of a building to the interior features.
The building will feature office space, retail stores, a 280+ space parking garage, 100 apartments and a 6,000 square foot restaurant concept called "The Wheelhouse."
The development is expected to be complete in the spring of 2016. Leasing is underway.
