GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The identity of the remains found along the M-6 trail over the weekend have been determined.
The Kent County Sheriff’s Office says that the body found was that of Walter Garcia-Lopez, 37, originally of Texas, but he had been living in Kent County.
Officials say that Garcia-Lopez was described as homeless and was a heavy drinker. He was known to sleep under freeway overpasses around the area. They also say that tattoos helped investigators make the identification.
The Kent County Medical Examiner has ruled Lopez-Garcia’s death as natural, due to chronic-ethanol abuse.
