GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Rescuers pulled two women from the Grand River Sunday evening after their kayak tipped near downtown.

Authorities were called to the Bridge Street bridge over the Grand River around 5 p.m. Sunday after the two women fell into the river.

The women were not wearing life jackets when their boat tipped, dispatchers told FOX 17.

A bystander jumped into the river before first responders arrived in an attempt to bring the two women ashore.

The women were uninjured.
