BIG RAPIDS, Mich. — A two-year-old child is in state custody after being found unattended near a vacant home in Big Rapids, and her mother found passed out in the garage.
Wednesday afternoon, Big Rapids Police responded to the home in the 300 block of West Avenue about the situation. A neighbor found the child and was watching the child at the home.
Police say that the woman had ingested a combination of alcohol and prescription drugs, but they are unsure of what types or quanities. She was taken to the hospital, but left before police could interview her. Police say the woman will likely face charges for neglect and trespassing.
The child is in the care of CPS for the time being.
