GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Police are investigating whether an attempted robbery at a McDonald’s and a robbery at an IHOP are linked.

The Grand Rapids Police Department confirms the attempted armed robbery occurred at the McDonald’s on Leonard Street around 4:10 a.m. Tuesday. Officials said a suspect pulled up to the drive-through and pointed a gun at an employee. When the employee took off, the suspect drove off without any cash. Police say the suspect was driving a white Chevrolet Impala.

Then a few minutes later, just before 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, two armed suspects walked into the IHOP on the East Beltline at Knapp’s Corner. Police say the pair demanded cash and then took off once they had it.  No one was hurt.
