GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Several people have helped clean up a pile of bedbug-infested belongings piled onto the sidewalk of a neighborhood on the NW side of Grand Rapids Thursday.
On Wednesday, FOX 17 first uncovered the pile of trash, furniture and other belongings that had been tossed out of the house in the 1000 block of Davis NW after the eviction of three residents.
One of the former residents told FOX 17 Thursday he and another man had sublet the upper level of the home from another renter who lived downstairs. The man said they always paid their rent to the man in the lower-level apartment, but it's now apparent he didn't pass the payments on to the landlord. Now, Tom Shinn, a former resident, is wondering where his money went.
The two men, who are now looking for other places to live, also said there have been problems with bedbugs since moving in two years ago and they have been unsuccessful getting rid of them.
"I'm sad, I'm mad, you know homeless, right at this age I don't know what to do," Tom Shinn said, one of the former residents.
Fox 17 is currently working to find Shinn a home, we'll keep you updated.
