KALAMAZOO, Mich. — A missing man was found safe Wednesday evening and reported to be in good health.
Darl Lee Mapes, 68, was reported missing Wednesday by the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety and was later found in Indiana.
Mapes walked away from his group home in the 200 block of Allen Boulevard Monday, according to a release. He suffers from dementia and has a history of leaving the home, police said.
Police say Mapes was in need of his medication.
He is described in a release as 5 feet 7 inches tall and 160 lbs. He was last seen wearing a bright blue fleece jacket and khaki pants.
Authorities said arrangements are being made so he can return to West Michigan.
