VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich. — A Kalamazoo man is in custody after being pursued by Van Buren County sheriffs after failing to stop at a stop sign Saturday evening.
Sheriffs say that Josh Wayne Tanner, 42, failed to stop at a stop sign on 67th Avenue around 7:30 PM. Tanner did not stop when signaled and fled from deputies.
The pursuit ended when Tanner crashed on Swisher Street near Garrett Road in Cass County. He was taken to Bronson Lake View Hospital for minor injuries. Upon release, he was arrested for fleeing and eluding, felony possession of marijuana, and five outstanding arrest warrants: three misdemeanor warrants out of Van Buren County and 2 felony drug warrants out of La Porte County and Perry County, Indiana.
A search of his vehicle after the crash showed that he was in possession of a small amount of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and components to make methamphetamine.
A report is going to be forwarded to the Van Buren County Prosecutor’s Office for review and possible additional charges for possession of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine laboratory components, possession of cocaine, driving with a suspended license, and operating while intoxicated – drugs.
