Man faces hit-and-run, OWI charges after crash

ANTWERP TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A 28-year-old man has been arrested and charged after a hit-and-run crash Wednesday morning in Van Buren County.

According to the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department,  Keith Edward Ellis drove off after hitting a 71-year-old Paw Paw woman’s vehicle.  The crash was reported at roughly 8:30 a.m. in the area of Red Arrow Highway and County Road 652.

Ellis was later located on County Road 653 and arrested.  Police believe he was under the influence of drugs at the time of the crash.

Ellis was charged Thursday in 7th District Court with leaving the scene of an accident, operating while under the influence of drugs, second offense and leaving the scene of an accident.    No injuries were reported in the incident.

According to a release, Ellis posted bond and has since been released from jail.  His next court date is scheduled for Sep. 30.
