COLDWATER, Mich. - Stuart Sobeske, 14, is going for a unique record this weekend.

Sobeske is trying to set a new record of solving the most Rubik's cubes while riding a unicycle.  Believe it or not, the current record is 28.

Sobeske has been riding his dad's old unicycles since he was a kid. When he learned about the record, he knew he wanted to take a stab at it.

After researching how to solve a Rubik's cube puzzle online, he started practicing. Sobeske says he's already solved as many as 40 cubes on a practice run.

Saturday, he will make the world record attempt in front of family and friends at 9 a.m at the Branch County Memorial Airport.

"Definitely think it's a little cool, a lot of them were kind of skeptical that there was ever a record to begin with," Sobeske told FOX 17 News.

"He has an amazing mind for memorization and these kinds of skills, and I was incredibly impressed. He really took to it, like a fish to water," added his dad, Joe Sobeske. "He was riding his unicycle, solving them on the unicycle before he even knew there was a record."

With the help of a local judge, Boy Scout troop, and the Coldwater Police Department, 80 cubes have been officially "scrambled". The cubes are even being kept overnight by police in their evidence locker until the record attempt Saturday morning.

The public is invited to the airport grounds to cheer Sobeske on during the event.
