GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A 64-year-old man is dead after the bicycle he was riding was hit by a pick-up truck Wednesday afternoon.
The crash happened at roughly 3:45 p.m. at Eastern Avenue SE and Ken-O-Sha Industrial Drive, according to the Grand Rapids Police Department.
Police say Lavern Washington was riding south on the sidewalk along Eastern when he went into the Ken-O-Sha intersection and was hit by the truck.
Washington was taken to the hospital and later pronounced dead.
Northbound Eastern Avenue was closed while investigators were on the scene.
