GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Police in Grand Rapids are investigating following an attempted abduction near Alpine Avenue and Sylvia Street NW.

It happened around 2:20 p.m. Monday when police said a 13-year-old boy and 10-year-old girl were walking their dogs when a man pulled up in a truck next to them. Police said the driver asked the kids questions and told them to get in the vehicle.

The children ran to safety and called for help.

The suspect is described as a white male, 55 to 65 years of age. The man had  white hair with white spots on his face, a receding hairline, and spoke with a deep voice. Police said he was“heavy set” with dark eyes and was wearing a white tee shirt.

The vehicle is described as an older white pickup truck, with rust along the bottom of the vehicle. The truck was quiet, but dirty with an empty bed.

Anyone with information should call police at (616) 456-3427 or (616) 774-2345.
