Man dead after being shot in Battle Creek

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — A 27-year-old man was shot dead in Battle Creek early Sunday morning.

Battle Creek Police responded to a shooting near Hanover and Walters Ave. a little before 3 AM. There, they found the man with a gunshot wound to the chest.

Police say that the victim was apparently standing on the sidewalk when a passing vehicle fired shots.

The vehicle fled the scene soon after the shooting.

The man was taken to Bronson Battle Creek where he was pronounced dead.
