GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Police say three people were shot during a block party near the corner of Lafayette and Highland on the southeast side of the city Saturday night.

The incident happened just before 10.

Police told FOX 17 there was a neighborhood gathering with possibly between 600 to 800 people attending, when an unknown person or people fired multiple shots into the crowd, hitting three people.

According to police, a 20-year-old man as well as a 38-year-old man were hit in the back, while a 19-year-old girl, who is pregnant, was shot in the abdomen.

All three victims have been taken to a local hospital where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries. The pregnant woman and her unborn child were taken into surgery. They are both expected to be OK, according to police on scene.

Police told FOX 17 there have been issues at the block parties in the area in the past and that they had a patrol team there minutes before the shooting.
