Man hospitalized with multiple gunshot wounds after overnight shooting in Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Police are investigating an overnight shooting that sent one man to the hospital with multiple gunshot wounds early Thursday morning. It happened shortly after 3:00 a.m. on Franklin St. near Eastern Ave. on the city's southeast side.

Police say the male gunshot victim arrived at the hospital, suffering from several apparent gunshot wounds.  His injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening.

The victim told officers that a man in a red hooded sweatshirt confronted him as he was walking towards his home.  That man then shot him multiple times.  The victim was able to make it to the gas station across the street and call for help.  He was taken to the hospital by friends and family.

There are no suspects in custody at this time.
