PORTAGE, Mich. – A 19-year-old Kalamazoo man is in jail after allegedly trying to assault a female jogger Sunday evening.
The Portage Department of Public Safety reports that the 22-year-old woman was jogging on the Bicentennial Trial when she said she was grabbed from behind and pulled off the trail by the suspect who she had just passed going in the same direction. She screamed and fought him off. The suspect then fled from the area.
A Portage officer spotted the suspect near Loy Norrix High School and arrested him.
Monday afternoon, Jamal Johnson was arraigned on charges of Unlawful Imprisonment and Assault. He is being held on $50,000 bond.
