Overnight shootings in Kalamazoo leave four injured

Posted

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety is investigating two separate shooting incidents that left four people injured Sunday night.

Police received several reports of a shooting a little after 3:30 a.m. Officers were sent to the 500 block of Florence Street to investigate and upon arrival saw a large crowd  fleeing the area.

Not long after, three Kalamazoo women were taken to Bronson Hospital in a private vehicle. Two were treated and released while the third was hospitalized. She is currently in stable condition.

While investigating the first shooting, officers say they heard multiple shots fired from the 700 block of Hawley. Again, several people were seen fleeing the scene upon arriving.

A car was spotted leaving the area at a high speed.  When officers tried to pull the vehicle over they realized that it was transporting a person who had been shot. They went directly to Bronson Hospital, where the victim – also a Kalamazoo resident – was treated and released.

It is unknown at this time if the incidents are related. Anyone with information about these shootings is asked to contact Kalamazoo Public Safety at (269) 337-8994 or Silent Observer at (269) 343-2100.
