GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.–ArtPrize on Friday announced that Grammy-nominated folk-rock favorites The Avett Brothers will kick off an 11-day music festival within the ArtPrize competition this year.
The band will make the stop in Grand Rapids on Saturday, October 3, as part of a nationwide tour, and will take center stage alongside singer-songwriter Brent Dennen and his band.
ArtPrize is also announcing that the venue for the show will be a riverside music festival tent known as “The Eddy,” calling it “a whirlpool of local art, concerts, delectable food, Michigan craft beer, cider and wine, and family-friendly creative art experiences.”
The announcement goes on to say that more details will be released in the near future. ArtPrize Seven runs September 23-October 11 in Grand Rapids.
ArtPrize this year will awarding two $200,000 awards decided by public vote and an expert jury, and an additional $100,000 in prizes will be given to the top entries in each category.
The event this year will include 1,554 entries representing 48 countries around the globe, as well as 42 U.S. states and territories.
