UNION TOWNSHIP, Mich. – One man was killed, two other people were hurt, and nearby residents lost power after a one-car crash overnight where alcohol is believed to have been a factor.
The Isabella County Sheriff says that a car driven by 43-year-old Guadalupe Rodriguez of Grand Ledge lost control on E. Bluegrass Road, just west of Encore Blvd. just before 4 a.m. Tuesday.
The Pontiac G6 went off the road, hit a telephone pole, went through an AT&T parking lot and rolled several times. Rodriguez and two passengers were all trapped in the car and needed extrication by rescue crews. He died in the crash.
One passenger, a 41-year-old woman from Grand Ledge, was flown to Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids by AeroMed. Another passenger, a 24-year-old man from Mt. Pleasant, was also taken to the hospital by ambulance.
Some local residents lost power due to the crash. Deputies say that alcohol was a factor in the crash. Names of those involved have not yet been released.
