ALLEGAN COUNTY, Mich. — An Allegan County father was sentenced to up to 30 years in prison Monday for the death of his 3-month-old son.
Jonathan Colby was arrested in December 2014 in connection with the death of Jase Colby. He was sentenced for charges of manslaughter and first-degree child abuse after pleading no contest in June.
He will spend at least 225 months, or nearly 19 years, behind bars.
At the time of the initial investigation, officials say Colby admitted to striking Baby Jase in the head twice because he wouldn’t stop crying. Jase’s mother found him unresponsive in his crib at thier Allegan Township home.
Autopsy results showed that Baby Jase had a cracked skull and other injuries consistent with strangulation and suffocation.
