VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich. — A man is in a west Michigan jail after investigators said that he allegedly kidnapped and sexually assaulted a teen from Florida.
Detectives said this man, Aurelio Hernandez-Gomez allegedly kidnapped and then sexually assaulted the teen while hiding out in a home in the 66000 block of 48th Avenue in Hartford Township.
They were found on Thursday night.
The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department was tipped off to the case by the sheriff in Florida when the girl was reported missing.
The suspect told deputies that he entered the U.S. illegally from Mexico.
Hernandez-Gomez was officially charged on Friday afternoon with felony criminal sexual conduct.
He is facing felony arrest warrants out of Florida and his extradition is pending.
Investigators are working on reuniting the teen and her parents.
