PAW PAW, Mich. – A jury convicted a Van Buren County man Wednesday for sexually assaulting a nine-year-old girl.
Michael Gwilliams was found guilty of first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a person under the age of 13. According to the Van Buren County Sheriff, he will be sentenced August 3.
The 65-year-old was accused in October 2014 of abusing the girl. Detectives tracked Gwilliams, who was originally from Bloomingdale, to Florida.
He was arrested in January in Silver Springs, Fla. and extradited back to Michigan.
