PORTAGE, Mich. — A 43-year-old Hastings woman was charged Thursday afterallegedly shooting a woman outside a home in Portage.
Theresa Petto was arraigned Thursday on assault with intent to murder and felony firearm charges.
The shooting was reported at roughly 7:20 a.m. Wednesday in the 2900 block of French Bay drive. Police believe Petto and the victim, Rachel Drafta, know each other.
On Wednesday morning, Petto allegedly parked her SUV a few blocks from the scene, walked to Drafta’s home and shot her in the head with a .22 caliber revolver.
Drafta was found in her driveway with a gunshot wound. According to a Thursday press release, she remains hospitalized and is in critical condition.
Petto is scheduled to be back in court for a pre-exam conference July 8 at 8:30 a.m. Her bond was set at $1 million.
