GRAND HAVEN TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A man was critically injured Wednesday after a crash at Lakeshore Drive and Tamarack Lane.

According to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department dispatch, the crash was reported at roughly 4:30 p.m. and Aero Med has been called to the scene.

Police said a motorcycle driven by a 56-year-old Grand Haven Township man was struck as he was waiting to turn onto Tamarack Lane.  A van driven by a 21-year-old woman from Waterford struck the motorcyclist. The man suffered a head injury and was flown to the hospital with critical injuries.

The victim was initially identified as a woman, but officials now say the victim is male.

Police said the man was not wearing a helmet, nor drugs or alcohol appear to be factors in the crash.
